Born Puerto Rican, Cuban, and Jamaican, Mona was immediately placed into a world of blended cultures. She states, “My world is a melting pot of grace, style, fashion, and art.” Growing up it didn’t’t take long for Mona to immerse herself within it all. At the age of thirteen she began modeling for a nonprofit organization called TEENS IN MOTION. It was here where the founder, Conrad Robinson, ignited her passion for dance, and modeling. She began to dance with a group called 730, and within this group her interest in dancing intensified. Mona noticed her dancing abilities were growing, and continued to train and perform with various groups throughout the United States until the age of twenty.
“Happy girls are the prettiest.” - Audrey Hepburn
As an adolescent, Mona struggled with her looks. Perhaps she lacked the confidence in her unique beauty; conceivably she felt that she was not as pretty as the other girls. However, by the age of fifteen she began to blossom. She embraced her distinctive looks, and toned body. Mona started to model for Jamal Turner for Motion Models where she trained in various aspects of fashion and runway and soon noticed that she had an undeniable passion for it. “I had a killer walk,” she recalls! Standing at a petite 64 inches, her walk and unique style set her apart form the other models. Despite her tiny stature, she was able to stand tall and capture the crowd’s attention. Mona did various fashion shows for designer clothing lines, such as M! Fashions, and was part of a team of models called Mally’s Angels, (which too was run by Jamal Turner).
“Fashion has two purposes: comfort and love. Beauty comes when fashion succeeds.” - Coco Chanel
At the age of twenty she instantly fell in love with the art of pole dancing. Mona would visit the gentlemen’s club and watch the woman twist and turn at the top of the pole. Something ignited inside of her and she knew that if she was going to be a part of this industry, than she needed to be different from the other dancers. A week later, she auditioned and stayed in the back of the club, teaching herself how to climb, do pole tricks and be sensual using the pole. With her performance background under her belt, she naturally bloomed into an incredible entertainer. Her love of dance, performance, and pole dancing merged. Mona Marie, The Pole Artist was born. Mona continued to train herself over the years, each year getting better and fiercer on the pole. The stage instantly became her canvas. Mona Marie says, “I feel as if I am creating my own work of art, like an artist with a paintbrush, that paints and paints, I pole and pole!” Mona Marie became a brand that people wanted to watch, and is booked throughout the country to perform at varies venues and private events.
Here with beauty also comes smarts. Mona Marie graduated from Monroe College with a BBA in Business Management, and a minor in Marketing. As an Entrepreneur, and owner of Poletic Justice, Mona Marie has high hopes to expand Poletic Justice into Public Relations and Brand Management. Mona Marie exclaims, “Now professionally trained, and skilled in the world of entertainment I continue to enhance my career. I work with various clothing designers, photographers; MUA’s and do numerous fashion shows. I have been featured in Don Diva, Stunnaz, Vixens, EXIT 21, and different web magazines, but I won’t stop there!”
There is no limit to the future that is in front of her. In Mona’s world there is always a continuous beginning never an end, especially when it comes to success. She continually encourages her clients to exercise, lose weight, and become more confident and creative through the art of pole dancing. She makes one promise, “I will continue to grow and be reborn in all aspects of my career and life. You are always welcome to journey with me!”
